Who are we?

A Church that loves Jesus, loves each other and loves His world.

City South Church is a really new church with a really old story to share. It’s a story that we want to be known by. It’s a compelling one that constantly re-shapes & changes us.

It’s the story of God’s unfathomable love for & relentless pursuit of a people for Himself.  So it’s more than just an ancient story anchored in a real place and time – it’s actually personal – it’s about a person called Jesus.

It’s the story of how Jesus brings us and God together.  In this crazy mixed up world we can’t say we have it all together but we know for certain that God does, and that in amazing ways through His Son Jesus, he includes ordinary people such as you and me.

We are so glad it’s not a story telling us to try to deserve God, to please God or even try to find God. Rather it’s one where He comes after us in grace and love and mercy.

It’s a great story, and importantly it’s true!

Senior Pastor
I was blessed to be raised in a home where my dad and mum taught their children the message of the Bible.  I became a Christian at ten years of age when I prayed asking God’s forgiveness and put my hope in the wonderful truth that Jesus died in my place for my sin.

I grew up in Gatton and after school was trained by my dad to be a watchmaker.  The Lord blessed me with a wonderful wife, Margaret, and with two young sons I undertook theological training.  Together we have served the Lord in churches at Dalby, Gympie and inner Brisbane as well as co-ordinating Chaplaincy with Queensland Baptists and serving as CEO of Barnabas Fund Australia. We are blessed with four sons, three daughters-in-law and twelve grand-children.  We are amazed by God’s grace in leading us to now be serving Him with a wonderful gathering of loving, joyful and committed followers of Jesus at City South.

Alistair Begg reminds us of the importance of reading our Bible

Dear Friend, In 1966, the American Bible Society published a new translation of the Bible called Today’s English Version. My copy is identified on the spine as The Good News Bible. The paperback New Testaments were marketed as “Good News for Modern Man.” In our current climate of political correctness, that title doesn’t fly. In…
